The Emma Treadwell Thacher Nature Center: Museum Building
We spent the second part of the workshop in the lab section, where we discussed scientific illustration techniques, tentatively identified our plant 'finds', and observed the details under the microscope.

Get out there and draw! Field work

Although the day was a hot and muggy, the woods along the Nature Trail were a cool spot to plant ourselves for some "timed drawings" of 20 minutes or so each. We seemed to have concentrated on understory plants on this trip, and "bagged" some pretty spectacular specimens in our sketchbooks. Some of us were fascinated to discover "new hemlocks from old"; seedlings getting started on rotting logs; the fungi on snags, and the intriquing business of lichens on the limestone stone walls...

Plant Pin-up Pictures!
